Life Skills Training was given to Female Academic staffs of Raya University to build up their thinking, social and emotional skills via Smart Video Conference today on February 14, 2025 at the University’s Senate Hall.
The primary objective of the training was to equip the trainees with essential life skills that foster their personal and social skill development, thereby enhancing their employability and overall success in their respective fields.
Dr. Almaz Baraki, Former Kotebe Metropolitan University president, gave the training which covers on the skills of self-awareness, critical and creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, effective communication, intra and interpersonal relationships, empathy and coping with stress and emotions.
Dr. Almaz, in her presentation, added that life skills are a behavioral change or development approach intended to address balance of knowledge, attitude and skills to increase mental and physical health, pro-social behavior and decreasing in behavioral, social problems & self-destructive behaviors.
In the discussion several issues were raised and entertained by the participants and life skills training should be more than just about the trainees own skills development but also paved the way to develop their students’ life skills to gain and new insights, self-realization, positive and realistic views of the future by increasing knowledge, abilities, beliefs, motivation, self-awareness, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
The trainees, on their part, said that the training was very effective and the extensive knowledge and experience shared by the trainer will be useful in bringing about practical change to confront with opportunities, risks or any challenges and to find ways to cope with it to fill the gaps we have.
