In an effort to strengthen the relationship between academia, Technical and Vocational Trainings, Research Institutions and industry, RU’s University-Industry Linkage and Technology Transfer Directorate, kicked off a one-day workshop on April 02/2025 at Lidya Hotel, Mehoni Town.
The workshop aimed at building a stronghold collaborative research initiative that would be community or industry driven, with the goal of technology invention, innovation, adoption and extension to end users in the region.
Nega Afera (Ph.D), the University’s delegate, having stated the University’s progressive journey of success in various array of fields, expressed his willingness and commitment to work in collaboration with stakeholders surrounding the university in line with Univest’s vision and mission.
He also stipulated to the industries and stakeholders to be welcoming and supportive to the implementation of UIL through internship and externship and joint agreements so that students can get the opportunity to engage in learning through practical and relevant experiences at various internship sites.
In the workshop, presenters from Raya University presented on the core activities going on and the milestones the university has achieved and has envisaged to work in Academic, Research, Community Engagement and Tchnology Transfer and University Industry Linkage were presented and explored.
Mr. Mehari G/Michael, Deputy of Tigrai Industry Bureau, having briefed the damage the devastating war of Tigrai and the dramatic inflation going on in the country has unleashed in manufacturing industry, boldly spoke to work industriously in collaboration and integration with stakeholders to boost the sector.
He also emphasized on both the university and the industry to act as complementary organizations to share resources in conducting demand driven researches, technological invention and innovation to meet their common goals.
Mr. Haftu Kiros, the Administrator of the Southern Zone of Tigray and the member of Management Board of the University, in his closing remark emphasized on the paramount importance of creating a reliable partnership between the university, TVET and Vocational Trainings, Agricultural Research institutions, industries and various stakeholders for generating mutual benefits between them for the betterment of the society.
In the workshop, various pivotal issues on the presented topics and on how to establish a solid, reliable and sustainable collaborations and developmental initiatives to alleviate the deep-rooted problems of the society were raised and entertained by the participants of various representatives of the mentioned organizations.
In the end, the workshop culminated by giving a certificate of recogntion to various stakeholders who have been fulfilling their responsibilities in Students Internship and Externship based on the agreement.
