Overall Information

The College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) at Raya University was established in 2015 following the establishment of Raya University. Over the years since its establishment, CSSH comprises five (5) departments namely;

  1. Department of Geography and Environmental Studies
  2. Department of English Language and Literature
  3. Department of History and Heritage Management
  4. Department of Civics and Ethical Studies
  5. Special Courses Coordination Office (Psychology, Sociology, Special Needs Education and Social Anthropology)

Each department within our college is staffed by highly qualified faculty members who are passionate about their respective disciplines. They are committed to delivering exceptional education, conducting groundbreaking research, and providing mentorship and guidance to our students.

These departments offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, enabling students to explore their interests, gain specialized knowledge, and develop critical skills for their future careers. Additionally, our faculty members actively engage in research, publishing scholarly work, and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in their fields.

With its rich experiences, ready to expand graduate programs, research undertakings by faculty and graduating students, publications, and networking, the College of Social Sciences and Humanities is well prepared not only to advance the horizon of knowledge in the broader academic realm but also contribute to national development efforts, trans-cultural understanding, and meeting other challenges of the 21st Century.

Message from the College Dean

I am privileged to address this message as the Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. Our college is a hub of diverse disciplines that encompass the study of environment, human behavior, societies, languages, cultures, history and the complex issues that shape our world. It is within this rich tapestry of intellectual exploration that we find the opportunity to foster critical thinking, empathy, and meaningful engagement.

As we embark on this academic year, I am delighted to share some exciting updates and initiatives that will enhance the academic experience within our college. We have expanded our course offerings to include new interdisciplinary programs that bridge the gap between social sciences and humanities, enabling our students to explore the intersections of these fields and gain a holistic perspective on societal challenges.

Moreover, we are investing in research opportunities that address pressing social, cultural, and political issues. By fostering collaboration and supporting innovative research projects, we aim to generate knowledge that will contribute to positive change and inform public discourse.

I am particularly excited about the opportunities for community engagement that lie ahead. Raya University College of Social Sciences and Humanities has always been deeply committed to serving society, and we will continue to forge partnerships with local organizations and community leaders to address social inequalities and promote social justice. Through service-learning initiatives, internships, and community-based research, our students will have the chance to apply their knowledge and skills to create tangible impact in the world.
